Brock’s universal lessons

  • When someone needs help and I have the ability to do so, I will help them.

It is incredibly important to help others in our lives. Even when we may be inconvenienced, helping others builds community and improves our own well-being. Helping does not have to be a grand gesture, even the littlest of tasks where we can lend a helping hand go a long way. How can you help someone today?

  • Build a routine to stave off idleness, anxiety, and depression.

Developing a daily routine can immensely improve our emotional state. Routines differ for every person as every person is different. When we stick to a routine, we create structure and organization in our lives. Structure to our lives gives us stability and adds purpose. What is your routine? If your routine isn’t fulfilling your purpose, How can you enhance your routine?

  • Confront your monsters in life by diving in headfirst to face them and do not stop until you reach the bottom.

You are stronger than your inner monsters. We cannot let our fears, doubts, emotions, and anxiety control how we navigate our lives. To face these monsters builds courage and allows us to take control of our lives. Diving in headfirst and not stopping until we have overcome these monsters ensures we are in control of our minds. Doing this does not always mean ridding ourselves of such things, but rather learning to move forward and manage them. How can you confront your monsters?

  • We are like the bow and need an aim in life.

To have an aim is to have a purpose. Everyone has their purpose in life and we are all on our journey to discover ours. To develop an aim is to understand your values and organize them in a way you will feel fulfilled. We must learn what we aspire to be in life and what it takes to achieve that. What is your aim in life?

  • We must be like the Archer, who aims at targets daily, advancing forward, always on the move and never stagnant, for joy is found making progress toward the goal.

We cannot achieve our life’s aim overnight, we must progress towards it every day. Taking mindful actions each day that align with our aim is how we ultimately achieve it. Making an effort every day to reach your goals is making progress. How do you progress towards your aim each day?

  • Writing helps calm the mind and clarifies thought and aim.

  • Heed the call of sacrifice when she calls. Give up something now, to receive something greater in the future.

We must make sacrifices in life to grow. To prioritize our life’s aim is to make sacrifice’s along the way. Sacrifice’s do not need to be big for them to count, they can also include time, temporary comfort, and preferences. When we make sacrifices to achieve our aim, we will receive our aim. • Master both the vision of the forest and the vision of the desert.

To understand the visions of what is near and what is far is to know when to use them. Sometimes we get overwhelmed with the bigger picture and need to take a step back and look at what we can do at the moment. Other times, we need to see the bigger picture to slow down and remember what we are aiming for and why it is important. What can you do to master the vision of the forest and the vision of the desert?

  • Be grateful, not resentful.

We must be intentional with our outlook on life. Focusing on the negatives and fostering resentment does not allow us to move forward. To appreciate what we have and give our attention to the positives improves our moods and who we are as people. Gratitude allows us to progress to our aim. What are you grateful for?

  • Do not look back, for when we do, we become a pillar and cannot move forward.

We must focus our attention on the present. Looking back on the past does not help us move forward. Reflecting on our past is different than letting it consume us. It is important to reflect, but focus on what you can do now to continue on or adjust the path you desire to follow. Remembering our aim and taking action to reach it allows us to move forward. How can you move forward from the past?
